Postcard start file

For business cards, create a new file 91 mm x 61 mm. For postcards create a new file 151.5 x 108 mm.

For business cards create guides 3mm and 6mm from each edge, and for postcards create guides 1.5mm and 4.5mm from each edge.

Any time an image or colour is printed to the edge of a page, it must extend beyond the final dimensions of your job to allow for cutting. The size for the bleed of a business must be exactly 3mm (8.5pt) and for an A6 post card 1.5mm (4.2pt).

Text or artwork you wish to preserve must be at least 3mm (8.5pt) inside of the final dimension of your design.

You are now ready to create your design within this template.

Please note, nothing should extend to the outside edge of the document other than items that bleed off the edge of your cards.

The first guide line 3mm (business cards), (1.5mm postcards) is where the cards will be cut and you should try to keep all your text and images within the inner line 6mm (business cards), (4.5mm postcards) to avoid the possibility of anything being ‘clipped’.

Your artwork must include a box, drawn the same size as your page. This should be sent behind your design and should be white or transparent. This will ensure your final EPS is the correct size.

It is recommended that you save your work as EPS. To do so select File > Export (Ctrl+E) and select .eps as type.

To save the document as JPG or TIFF choose the option File > Export (Ctrl+E). If your image contains a large amount of fine detail, you may wish to save it as a TIFF (.tif) file instead of a JPG in order to maintain print quality. This makes a much larger file, which will take longer to upload to our system.
