Fireworks is predominantly a web design software, and as such does not have CMYK functionality. If you have a CMYK capable alternative software you can use, this would be preferable. If not, we are able to accept your RGB Fireworks files but there is a possibility that colours will change.
For business cards, create a new file 91 mm x 61 mm at 300 pixels/inch. For postcards create a new file 151.5 x 108 mm.

For business cards create guides 3mm and 6mm from each edge, and for postcards create guides 1.5mm and 4.5mm from each edge.
For business cards set the guides to 3mm, 6mm, 55mm and 58mm vertically and 3mm, 6mm, 85mm and 88mm horizontally. For postcards set the guides to 1.5mm, 4.5mm, 103.5mm and 106.5mm vertically and 1.5mm, 4.5mm, 147mm and 150mm horizontally.
If you view rulers, which can be switched on by selecting View > Rulers (Ctrl+Alt+R), you can just drag the guidelines out of the rulers to the required position. You can remove them in the same way by just dragging them back into the ruler.

You are now ready to create your design within this template.
Please note, nothing should extend to the outer edge of the document other than items that extend right to the edge of your cards, like a background colour or all-over image for example. For more information on "bleed", please refer to our file preparation tutorial.
The first guide lines (3mm for business cards or 1.5mm for postcards) show where the cards will be cut. The inner guides (6mm for business cards and 4.5mm for postcards) show the 'safe' area for your design. You should try to keep your all your text and images within the inner guides to avoid the possibility of anything on your cards being 'clipped' when we cut them.
Very fine text, rules and keylines should be avoided.
To save the document you first need to choose the file type you want to save your work in, this can be done via Window > Optimise (F6). Choose TIFF 24 from the drop down menu. Finally to save the file choose the option File > Export.
