For landscape business cards your file should measure 91 x 61mm, this includes 3mm bleed. The finished card will be trimmed to 85 x 55mm.
Sizes for other items, and a helpful animation explaining bleed can be found here: File Preparation Tutorial
Your file should not contain any cutting/trim marks, printers marks or similar as these will be printed on your cards.
Very fine text, rules and keylines should be avoided.
If possible, your file should be created in CMYK colour format to ensure the most accurate colour reproduction. We can accept RGB files, but there is a risk that some of the colours may not print exactly as they appear on your screen.
If you have an area of solid black within your document, 100% black (K) alone will not result in a solid, saturated black. Instead, please use Rich Black, as represented by C:100% / M:30% / Y:30% / K:100%.
Images placed into your document should be at least 300dpi at the size they are to be used.
Please ensure that none of the colours used have been set to overprint, except black text, as this will cause unexpected results.
All text must be converted to outlines/paths. Outlining eliminates the need to send fonts along with your files, while maintaining a nice, crisp typeface.
You should ensure that your file includes a bounding box. Simply create a box, 91 x 61mm, with no fill and no stroke. Position it to match the edge of your page and send it to the back. This will ensure your file is the correct size.
Files can be submitted in EPS, JPG, TIFF or PDF format. Please note: JPG's and TIFF's should be a minimum of 300dpi (more if there is fine text or detail), and should be saved at the highest quality with no compression. Please see our separate Adobe PDF instructions for information on saving as PDF.
Using filters and transparencies can sometimes produce elements in your design that do not print correctly. If you have used these effects in your Illustrator artwork, we recommend that you export your artwork as a 400 DPI TIFF.
.AI files cannot be uploaded, and should be re-saved as EPS
